Frequently Asked Questions For Fun Spaces
What ages of children do you care for?
We welcome all children aged 6 months to 14 years old. There will be age-appropriate activities available and provided by Fun Spaces to encourage their creativity and social development. There can also be specific themes and activities related to the theme of the adult event (e.g. girls’ spa party). All children will leave with a favor bag!
How do you discipline children in your care?
The types of activities we set up encourage flexible, free play although we will provide age-appropriate parameters as to not overwhelm the children. We promote good behavior through praise, modeling, and positive support. Poor behavior will be corrected through redirection. On the occasion we have a very disruptive child, we will request the parent return to correct the child or remove from our care.
Do you provide last minute care?
Fun Spaces will accept last minute reservations if we have the capacity to fully service your party. Advance payment will still be required.
How do I know my children will be safe during our event?
Children placed in care with Fun Spaces will be safe. The same adult to drop a child off must pick up the child (unless he or she approves a secondary pick up adult in advance). Adults will be matched with children at drop-off and pick-up with a special code. Children will be easily identified with brightly colored wristbands and unable to easily slip out of the room.
All staff are trained or certified in Infant and Child CPR. Always present will be a lead staff member who will also have Basic First Aid certification. All Funsters will wear a name tag for easy identification during the event. Always present will be a complete First Aid kit and an emergency procedure sheet customized for the location – this sheet is available for parents to review. Finally, infants and older children will play in separate spaces to prevent unnecessary run-ins!
Do you only provide childcare?
No, we also provide programming during events where childcare is not necessary. We can set-up and facilitate age-appropriate activities and games for your youngest guests so you will not have to think about it.
Who pays for your service?
For private events, the host typically pays for our service. At ticketed events, the organizer or host either charges guests to cover the cost of the service at the event or requests that we collect the fee directly from registered guests through our online registration form customized for the event. In this case, we would still need a deposit to hold the date.
How far will Fun Spaces travel?
Fun Spaces will travel anywhere to your special event. For events over 30 miles outside of Durham, NC, there will be a mileage charge of 56 cents per mile added to cover vehicular travel costs. Transportation is not currently provided for children in between events but we can chaperone in transportation provided by you.
