Fun Spaces was founded in 2010 as a solution for parents who want to experience life events outside of parenthood while providing an outlet for children to grow creatively and socially through play in a safe environment. We believe everyone needs time to play and are sharing a unique forum for it. We have provided customized children’s programming at weddings, receptions, reunions, parties and other special events taking place in hotels and country clubs in the Triangle region of North Carolina. Our staff members, called “Funsters”, are certified in Infant and Child CPR. They have passed our background checks that include reference and criminal history. The members of our staff love caring for children and will encourage them while they are in our presence. As a family-friendly company, we support community causes that encourage play for all, are members of the U.S. Play Coalition, and support the Darkness 2 Light movement.
For parents and children to have more chances to play in life.

Our staff members, called “Funsters”, are certified in Infant and Child CPR. They have passed company background checks that include reference and criminal history. All staff will be required to complete annual training to be in the best form for your children. Founder & Play Strategist
In 2009, Yolanda Brown experienced being invited to a long graduation ceremony, 2 funerals, an adult-only wedding, and several conferences. For each event, she wondered what she would do with her then 2-year-old. She was able to attend a number of events, but some received her regards because of lack of child care options, especially as attending these events with her son produced a very restless 2-year-old. Opportunities to enjoy adult events decreased even more with the beautiful addition of her second son.
As a former business consultant and emerging entrepreneur, she recognized a great market need and understood how to create an excellent solution to meet it. Whenever she shared the concept of Fun Spaces, people were ecstatic about how great an idea it was. She started the service in 2010 and has since provided care at weddings, receptions, parties and other formal events taking place in hotels and country clubs in the Triangle region of North Carolina with a team of awesome funsters.
When she is away from Fun Spaces, Yolanda is a dedicated mom to two elementary school-aged boys, a business coach, and philanthropist. She serves as Chair of the Board of Directors at Urban Ministries of Durham, volunteer in her sons’ school and Cub Scout Pack. She earned an MBA from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School and a bachelor of science in industrial engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
